Rodriguez Dam

On the way to visit the Cervezaria Frontera in Tijuana, Señora Adora says "I want to take the long route and see the Rodriguez Dam."  Well, OK, here we go.  What we found surprised us.

Rodriguez Dam retains one of Tijuanas reservoirs.  Since it was late in the dry season when we went, there was not much water in the reservoir and none in the spillways.  We were surprised at the scale and engineering of the dam and gates.  They are huge.

In the canyon where the dam is located, below the level of the reservoir, is a railroad line.  It is the old railroad line between Tijuana and Tecate.  At the far end of the canyon is a trestle that leads to a railroad tunnel.  There is a tourist train to Tecate that still uses these tracks.

Restaurante 58

What do you do when you have been busy shopping on Ave. Revolución and are hungry after haggling with the merchants there... and the place you thought you'd go doesn't open for two more hours?  Well, you ask one of the local merchants.  He said: "Go to Restaurante 58".
