Rodriguez Dam

On the way to visit the Cervezaria Frontera in Tijuana, Señora Adora says "I want to take the long route and see the Rodriguez Dam."  Well, OK, here we go.  What we found surprised us.

Rodriguez Dam retains one of Tijuanas reservoirs.  Since it was late in the dry season when we went, there was not much water in the reservoir and none in the spillways.  We were surprised at the scale and engineering of the dam and gates.  They are huge.

In the canyon where the dam is located, below the level of the reservoir, is a railroad line.  It is the old railroad line between Tijuana and Tecate.  At the far end of the canyon is a trestle that leads to a railroad tunnel.  There is a tourist train to Tecate that still uses these tracks.

Where to go with visitors from the US?  They've been to Baja before, yet were looking for something or some place new.  Of course, great food and wine in a serene setting would be well received.
